The "Scottish Royal Wedding" - Andy Murray & Kim Sears get hitched!
I'm loving how the media have dubbed Andy Murray and Kim Sears' wedding at Dunblane Cathedral this weekend. Who needs Kate and Wills when you've got these two beauts!
Firstly, I just have to say that these two are a strange pair. Kim in GORGEOUS and Andy, not so much. Now, I'm not one to judge a book by its cover. I could totally understand if he had good chat, but I can't say I've seen that side of him. Maybe he saves his good chat for her, not for us plebs watching him on the telly.
Now of course I am totally immersed in wedding fever myself so I love a bit of wedding chat. The first photos I saw of the wedding was the day before when the cathedral was being set up. There were lovely trees being put up outside and the aisle was lined with super tall trees. Anywhere else, the trees probably would have been too much but Dunblane Cathedral is so grand it just looked amazing. I loved the trees outside as well - I'm getting smaller (much smaller) fake versions for my own wedding.
I love that they decided to get married in Dunblane Cathedral and have their reception at the Cromlix Hotel. Obviously its Andy's home town and he has great pride in where he comes from but Kim is from the other end of the country. I could well have understood if she wanted to tie the knot closer to home. But I think we all saw how excited Dunblane was for the wedding to be there. The streets were lined, people had decorated their shops and made it such a wonderful occasion. Also, I heard they had originally wanted to get married in the chapel within the grounds of the Cromlix (how cool?!) but it wasn't big enough. I think the 300 seater cathedral was much more realistic.
Andy and his brother were of course in their kilts. I'm not a major fan of a kilt but I see its the same tartan they wore at his brother Jamie's wedding so I'm assuming its their family tartan and I love it when people bring a little family history or tradition into their ceremony.
Judy (Andy's mum) was dressed in a cream and beige outfit. It was a perfectly lovely mother of the groom outfit but I thought her hat was a little strange. The shape was a bit odd and it was tilted to the side - it kind of reminded me of a satellite (sorry Judy).
Now when it comes to Kim's dress, I of course thought she looked amazing, but then she usually does. I thought she chose her hair and makeup really well and they really enhanced her beauty without being too over the top. I have mixed feelings about her dress. I thought the top half was so beautiful. The sleeves had lovely detailing which went around to the back and had a little bit of sparkle. It was quite low cut at the front but I think it was just right - the perfect balance of sexy and classy. I absolutely loved the back of the dress. It was very low cut at the back and it was so detailed. So beautiful.
Now the bottom half is where I have the issue. I know that under that dress Kim has an amazing figure but I don't think the bottom of the dress did her justice. It made her look like she had a bit of a gut and that's a shame. On another bride I'm sure it would have looked great.
I was actually quite surprised by her choice of dress. I was expecting her to wear something a lot more slinky or slim fitting. I wasn't expecting it to be to princessy and glam but I still thought it was gorgeous.
I think the nicest thing about their entire wedding and the most important thing that I want to include in this post, is just how happy they both seemed. Andy put a post up in the morning that was all emoticons and just shows his excitement for the day ahead. When he and Jamie arrived at the cathedral, he had a massive grin on his face and Kim was the same when she pulled up in her car. And when they left they both just seemed so happy and like they were enjoying the greatest day of the life just like they should be. I'm not going to lie, I have been a bit of a bridezilla and I can imagine I will be a bit stressed on my wedding day but those two seemed like they didn't have a care in the world. I really hope I manage that!
In all honesty, I wish Andy and Kim all the best for the future. I think we all know as much stress and pressure as put on that one day, its just that. One day. Its really about the commitment to your relationship and your future together (check me getting all deep and cheesy) and I hope they have an amazing time together.
