Your own home gives you OCD - FACT!

If you read my previous post "A Saturday flit means a short sit" you'll remember I mentioned that when I lived with the parentals my room was an absolute riot. Well, it seems in the 6 days I've moved I've developed OCD. I came to this realisation with the help of my curtains. Yes, my curtains. I would like to explain this problem by firstly telling you a story about my gran and my cousin.

A few years ago, my gran had a hip replacement. It was during the summer when I was off university so I went to stay with her for a couple of weeks to help her while she was recovering. While I was there, I did all of her housework for her. One day, I was hoovering in the living room. My gran had vertical blinds on the window and then decorative curtains which came down to the floor. In order to hoover right up to the corner, I went to lift the curtains and hoover behind them. As soon as my hand touched the material my gran screamed "DON'T TOUCH THOSE CURTAINS!" To be honest, I nearly had a heart attack and thought "Crazy old lady...." but carried on hoovering.

I recalled this story to my cousin the following week who looked at me with disgust and said "OMG, I never touch my curtains. They are sitting perfectly, why would I move them?" All I could think was, why are these people kray and what is the deal with touching curtains?

Well..... now I understand the plight and I am wondering if there is some kind of curtain OCD gene in our family.

In our bedroom we only have a blind, so once my fiance is dressed he opens it - no problem. The spare room - where I get ready for work - has curtains so once I'm dressed I open those and sit them nicely with the tie backs. The living room has two windows and both have curtains on them. My fiance normally goes downstairs before me in the morning and yesterday he opened all the curtains, like the good boy I am training him to be.

However, upon inspection they were not "right". He hadn't arranged them "the way they should be" so I went round and redid them all. WHAT IS THE DEAL WITH THAT?! How can a curtain not be sitting right?! They hang there, you gather them up with a tie back. End of story.

No, not end of story. They must be folded neatly then gathered with the tieback. Then you need to pull the inside of the curtain back in to a certain point on the window so that they are spread nicely.

THESE ARE THE WORDS OF A CURTAIN PSYCHO.

And now I'm in their club.

Suggestions for therapy would be greatly appreciated.

Louise. xoxo
